LastPass
Activating LastPass
You should receive an activation e-mail from LastPass like the one shown below. Click Activate LastPass
Your default browser will open and your e-mail address and Temp Password should be pre-populated. If they arent fill in the required fields. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT use your personal e-mail address here even if you already have a personal account.
Type in your new master password, which should be a NEW password that you havent used anywhere else. It will need to be at least 12 characters and have 1 of each of types of characters.
Type your password in a second time and them fill in something that will help you remember your password in case you have trouble in the future and then click Save Master Password
When the password has been encrypted and saved you will get the screen above. DO NOT USE THIS LINK Install LastPass. This will give you the non-enterprise version of the software. Follow the steps provided in the next section to download and install the full client.
Linking your personal account
Link or Unlink Your Personal Account
We understand that you like to keep your personal and work life separate – so do we! When you link your personal LastPass account with your Teams or Enterprise account, you can keep your Vault entries all in one place while both accounts remain separate. Your personal account will continue to remain private (as your Teams or Enterprise admin is never able to view your personal account data), and if you ever leave the company, your personal account data remains active and accessible to you.
Link your personal account
Once your personal account is linked, it will appear as a sub-folder for your Sites and Secure Notes in your Enterprise Vault. Your personal account is treated as a Shared Folder between your personal and company accounts, and is subject to the same restrictions and properties therein.
Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
Go to www.charliesbrew.co.za?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.
Click Link Account in the left navigation.
When prompted, enter your personal account email address and Master Password.
Click Link Account.
Once authenticated, your LastPass Vault will refresh and Link Account will no longer be displayed as a menu item in the left navigation, and your Sites and Secure Notes entries will be displayed as a folder listed as your personal accounts username with Linked Personal Account displayed in the right navigation.
Migrate data between your accounts
You can move relevant items between your company and personal Vaults by dragging and dropping (or right-clicking on the entry > Move to folder) to migrate your data.
Note: If you have a LastPass Teams or Enterprise account, the ability to perform these actions may be limited or prohibited due to policies enabled by your LastPass admin.
Unlink your personal account
If at anytime you wish to unlink a personal account from a your Teams or Enterprise account, you can do so in the following ways, depending on your account access:
If you still have access to your company account:
Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
Go to www.charliesbrew.co.za?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.
Select More Options in the left navigation.
Go to Advanced > Remove Linked Personal Account.
When prompted, click Yes to confirm.
Note: If your LastPass Enterprise admin resets your Master Password using the Super Admin Master Password Reset policy, your personal LastPass account will automatically become unlinked.
If you no longer have access to your company account:
Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
Go to www.charliesbrew.co.za?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.
Select Account Settings in the left navigation.
Go to Show Advanced Settings > Unlink Account From Enterprise.
Click OK on the confirmation message, then click Update to close the Account Settings window.
Managing Site Passwords
One of the great time-saving benefits of LastPass is that it remembers your passwords. When you visit a site to log in, LastPass fills the credentials for you – no typing required! You can add, edit, delete, and share the passwords stored in your Vault.
Note: Your LastPass Vault has an unlimited capacity of items that can be added, however, you can expect to see performance degradation when 2, items or more are stored.
Add a password
You can add a new username and password while logging in to a website automatically, saving manually, or adding directly within your Vault.
Adding automatically:
While logged in to LastPass, navigate to your desired site.
Enter your username and password for the site and proceed to log in.
When the Add to LastPass? window appears, click Add.
Adding manually:
Navigate to your desired site.
Fill in your login data but do not log in. If desired, you can generate a secure password.
Click the LastPass icon > Add item > Save All Entered Data at the bottom of the menu. For Internet Explorer users, click the LastPass icon > Tools > Save All Entered Data.
All captured fields are displayed. If desired, enter more information and specify your desired settings for the item.
Click Save when finished.
Adding from your Vault:
Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
Go to www.charliesbrew.co.za?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.
Select Passwords in the left navigation.
Click the Add icon .
Enter the URL of the site, and all other information you want to store. You can also select a folder to store it within. If desired, click Advanced Settings and enable the checkbox(es) for additional security options of Require Password Reprompt, Autologin, and/or Disable AutoFill.
Click Save when finished.
Edit a password
While logged in to your LastPass account, you can update a password any of the following ways:
From the web browser extension, go to All items > Passwords > Hover over your desired password > Edit .
From within your Vault, locate your desired password and click the Edit icon .
Within the password filled in on the sites login field, click the LastPass Field icon , then click the Edit icon .
Make your desired changes. You can also:
Select a folder to store it within
Above the Username or Password fields, click the History icon to see previously used login info
In the Password field, click the Show Password icon to reveal text as you type
Click Advanced Settings and enable the checkbox(es) for any of the following options:
Require a Password Reprompt
Autologin
Disable Autofill
Click Add Attachment to save file(s) to this password (learn more below)
Click the Favorite icon to mark this password as a Favorite
Click the Share icon , then enter the email address of your recipient and click Share (learn more below)
Click the Delete icon to remove completely
Click the Edit icon to make changes to the associated form fields
When finished, click Save (if applicable).
Delete a password
From the web browser extension, go to All items > Passwords > Edit or locate the password within your Vault.
Click the Delete icon .
Click Yes to confirm.
Share a password
You can share a password entry, but first you must verify your email address before you will be able to share.
Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
Go to www.charliesbrew.co.za?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.
Select Passwords in the left navigation, then locate the password you want to share.
On the password entry, click the Share icon .
When prompted, enter the email address(es) of the recipient(s). If desired, check the box to enable the Allow Recipient to View Password option.
Click Share to send the password to your recipient(s).
Once you have shared your password, your recipient will remain in a Pending status until they accept the share. You can click Resend Invitation icon or Cancel Invitation icon .
Once your recipient accepts, that password is shared with them. If updates are made to the password, you must share again to ensure the recipient has the most updated version of the password. If desired, you can click the Revoke Access icon to remove their access.
Note: Attachment download time for recipients may vary depending on the size of the file(s) being shared.
About hidden passwords for shared items
When you share an item, regardless of whether you enable the Allow Recipient to View Password option, you should be aware of the following:
Savvy end users could potentially access the password if they capture it using advanced techniques, but LastPass will never be able to access this data because it has been encrypted using their public key.
It is also possible to obtain shared passwords using another password manager.
For these reasons, LastPass recommends that you generate a secure password for the site that you’re sharing in order to avoid sharing any passwords that you’re uncomfortable with the recipient obtaining.
About adding attachments to passwords
Adding attachments can be helpful in maintaining access to important documents in case they are misplaced or you lose access to a printed copy.
Note: The LastPass Binary Component must be installed in order to upload attachments.
LastPass users can add various file types as attachments that meet the following requirements:
Must be a supported file type: csv, doc, docx, odt, ppt, pptx, txt, xls, xlsx, pdf, png, gif, jpg, m4a, mpg, wav, avi, rtf, html, htm, mov, tiff, tif, jpeg, wmv, tsv, zip, rar, log, key
Each attachment file can be up to 10 MB in size, and your total storage limits are dependent on your account type (i.e., Free users have up to 50 MB whereas Premium, Families, Teams, and Enterprise accounts have up to 1 GB).
Managing Secure Notes
Navigate to Secure Notes
You can navigate to your Secure Notes in either of the following ways:
Directly via the web browser extension:
From your web browser, log in to LastPass.
Click the active LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar.
Go to Secure Notes.
From within your Vault:
From your web browser, log in to LastPass.
Click the active LastPass icon in your web browser toolbar, then click Open My Vault.
Select Secure Notes in the left navigation.
Create Secure Notes
LastPass can save any type of information you need to store.
Note: Each Secure Note can contain up to , characters max.
Navigate to your Secure Notes.
Click Add Note (from your web browser extension menu), or click Add Secure Note (from your Vault, shown below).
Enter a Name for the Secure Note, and choose a Folder to store it in (if desired). Depending on the Note Type that you select, the new fields that populate will vary (e.g., selecting Membership will populate relevant membership data fields). If you want to create a custom sticky note, select Generic from the Note Type drop-down menu.
Fill in the data fields. If desired, click Advanced Settings to enable the Require Password Reprompt option, or click Add Attachment to save file(s) to this Secure Note entry. Learn more about adding attachments.
When finished, click Save.
Edit Secure Notes
Navigate to your Secure Notes.
Locate the Secure Note you want to edit (via the web browser extension menu or from within your Vault).
Hover over the relevant Secure Note and click the Edit icon .
When the Secure Note is displayed, make your desired changes. You can also use the drop-down menu to select a Folder where youd like to store the Secure Note.
Click Save when finished.
Delete Secure Notes
Navigate to your Secure Notes.
Locate the Secure Note you want to delete (via the web browser extension menu or your Vault).
Hover over the relevant Secure Note and click the Delete icon .
When prompted, click Yes to confirm.
Share Secure Notes
Navigate to your Secure Notes.
Locate the Secure Note you want to share (via the web browser extension menu or your Vault).
Hover over the relevant Secure Note and click the Share icon .
When prompted, enter the e-mail address (or select an e-mail address from the drop-down menu) of the person you want to share this information with, then click Share.
Search Secure Notes
If you wish to have the ability to search within your Secure Notes when searching for a term in your Vault, you can enable the option as follows:
In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon .
Go to Preferences > Advanced then check the box to enable the Search within secure notes option.
Click Save.
Note: Enabling this option considerably slows down searching due to the decryption process required.
View Secure Notes History
You can review changes made to your Secure Notes by utilizing the History feature.
Note: The Secure Note History only shows a record of the last 5 changes made to each Secure Note.
Navigate to your Secure Notes.
Locate then hover over your desired Secure Note and click the Edit icon .
If any changes have been made to the Secure Note, you can click the History icon on the Edit window to review the changes.
Click Show to view the Secure Note as it had appeared prior to the saved changes.
Add Attachments to your Secure Note
Like all stored data, Secure Note attachments are locally encrypted and decrypted with a key that is never sent to LastPass, providing a secure storage option with the convenience of universal access. Adding attachments can be helpful in maintaining access to important documents in case they are misplaced or you lose access to a printed copy, such as a lost passport when traveling abroad.
LastPass users can add various file types as attachments to their Secure Notes that meet the following requirements:
Must be a supported file type: csv, doc, docx, odt, ppt, pptx, txt, xls, xlsx, pdf, png, gif, jpg, m4a, mpg, wav, avi, rtf, html, htm, mov, tiff, tif, jpeg, wmv, tsv, zip, rar, log, key
Each attachment file can be up to 10 MB in size, and your total storage limits are up to 1 GB.
Add an Attachment
Navigate to your Secure Notes.
Locate then hover over your desired Secure Note and click the Edit icon .
Click Add Attachment, then browse to your desired file and click Open. You can repeat this step to upload multiple attachments. Each attachment will be displayed in the Edit Note window.
Click Save when finished.
Manage your Secure Notes settings
You can also change your settings to be prompted for your Master Password when viewing your Secure Notes. Your Secure Notes can be password-protected in either of the following ways below.
To enable for individual Secure Notes:
Click the Edit icon on your desired Secure Note.
Click Advanced Settings.
Check the box to enable the Require Password Reprompt option.
Click Save.
